Overview

To be honest, I am not sure which category this project falls under. It is Art? Is it Print Design? Is it Photography? Does it deserve its own category? The Complements project might just need to be filed under 'Refreshingly different'.

Partners in both life and design, Leta Sobierajski and Wade Jeffree decided their relationship deserved more than a selfie. So they built Complements, a tongue-in-cheek portrait series that spoofs cheesy couple shots while quietly showing how neatly their instincts click. Each carefully arranged image is equal parts tender and absurd.

To give the images a physical heartbeat, they teamed up with British paper house GF Smith on a lay-flat book. The pages are hefty enough to feel like card stock (820gsm), the spine is hand-embossed, and the cover bristles with googly eyes that nod to the project’s very first portrait. It’s a coffee-table keepsake that laughs at the idea of a coffee-table keepsake.
