Ooof! The the things we do for art!

This self-portrait series by New York artist Kaija Straumanis‘ photo series the precise moment of impact as various things such as books, boots, pumpkins, and glasses, well.. collide with her head. Called ‘Headshots’, the series was later dubbed ‘Stuff being thrown at my head’.

This series has been interpreted as a visual metaphot for sudden realisations or epiphanies – the moment an idea 'hits you'.

Just in case too you were concerned for Kaija, the photographs are actually careful compositions and not candid real shots. Phew!
