Overview

Koalas, Cockatoos and Cancer Prevention

If you're not from Australia, this one might’ve flown under the radar, but it's one of my personal favourites (Paul here) and I have quite a few of these.

About two in three Australians will be diagnosed with skin cancer at some point in their lives, so sun safety is a serious matter here. We grew up with the Slip, Slop, Slap campaign from the '80s (slip on a shirt, slop on sunscreen, slap on a hat), a jingle that every aussie of my generation knows by heart.

The Ugly Xmas Rashie is a clever Aussie twist on the northern hemisphere’s Ugly Christmas Jumper. It's a UPF50+ long-sleeve rash vest decked out in festive Australiana. Launched in 2015 by Rumble Creative & Media for Cancer Council Queensland, it's become a summer staple, with all profits going toward cancer prevention, research and surf safety.

Each year brings fresh artwork. In 2016, Brisbane designer Jackie Dujardin stepped in with limited-edition koala and cockatoo prints that added a bright, playful tone to the campaign. This even caught the attention of high-profile fans like Hugh Jackman and Chris Hemsworth.
