Etrusco Pasta By Bart De Keyzer

Overview

Etrusco isn’t real, but it really deserves a place in the pasta aisle.

It’s a little disappointing that Etrusco isn’t an actual pasta brand.

Created as a self-initiated project by Bart De Keyzer of Dutch studio 3rd Floor, it’s a wonderfully colourful take on something we’re all familiar with. At a time when so much packaging seems to play it safe with muted colours, this packaging tells a much brighter, bolder story.

The idea starts with the pasta itself. Different shapes hold sauces differently, so Bart has made those shapes the stars of the packaging. His geometric illustrations have that lovely screenprint / risograph feel, with a nostalgic nod to the packaging of the 1950s and 60s. Paired with oversized typography, little white forks and vivid blocks of colour, the whole thing feels wonderfully retro without looking remotely dated or stale.
