Overview

Those Ducati reds really pop against the Texas asphalt. Laurent Nivalle captured the 2013 MotoGP weekend at COTA like he was shooting for both Town & Country and a racing poster you'd hang in your garage.

This is the kind of project where you just wish you were the one that scored the credentials and access to the pits.

His work doesn't just document the weekend, it gives you a real sense of the energy behind it all. Tactile and cinematic, Laurent has beautifully captured the intensity of the crowd, the heat, the pace and tension of competition.

The depth of field and clarity in these shots is honestly ridiculous. MotoGP bikes hit up to 350 km/h (217 mph) on COTA's longest straight COTA Circuit. Capturing that speed while keeping everything track-sharp requires serious shutter speed skills.

Though equally, Nivalle's lens found the quieter stories. The mechanics and team working through strategy. The riders in that zone before they head out onto the track. The fans who drove their own bikes hundreds of kilometres just to park for free and feel part of something bigger.
