Re-imagining the humble tape dispenser.

What does it take to look at an everyday object and change it? In effect, it goes back to the age-old question — can you build a better mousetrap?

Dutch designer Derk Reilink took on that task and ended up with something quietly elegant. From concept to Kickstarter to product, ClickTape is a considered take on an overlooked tool and a nice reminder of what can come from following a simple idea all the way through.

What makes it interesting is how unforced it feels. There’s no over-engineering, no decorative angles. It's 12 grams of plastic, a clean silhouette and a bit of precision where it counts. It’s functional, minimal, and surprisingly refined. Proof that even the most ordinary tools can benefit from a second look.
